As I make my way to Toronto this week alongside cricket legend Courtney Walsh, I’m reminded once again of the incredible power sport has to bring people together.
We’re travelling to support the PCMF Carry The Fire Cricket Festival, an initiative that is about far more than cricket.
Of course, there will be runs scored, wickets taken and plenty of laughter shared between players and supporters from different nations and backgrounds. Cricket has always had a unique ability to unite people, create friendships and build bridges across cultures. But at the heart of this festival lies a message that resonates far beyond the boundary rope.
No one should face cancer alone.
That simple but powerful message is what makes Carry The Fire such an important movement. It is about community, support, awareness and ensuring that individuals and families affected by cancer know they are surrounded by people who care.
At Lashings World, we have always believed that sport can be a force for good. Throughout our history, we have seen first-hand how cricket can bring people together, create conversations and inspire positive change. This festival embodies those values perfectly.
Travelling with Courtney Walsh, one of the most respected figures the game has ever produced, is a privilege. His passion for cricket, people and giving back to communities mirrors exactly what this event is all about.
